Please respond if you would be willing to remove snow from the side walk and driveway for a homeowner of  Jefferson Rd this winter.

The volunteer for this location will need to provide a shovel or snow blower if they prefer, and will agree to remove the snow within 24 hours of every snow fall (flurries included!).

After responding to confirm your interest, Family Service Rochester will provide the homeowner's address and phone number.  You will contact the homeowner directly to get introduced.

A homeowner is asking for assistance.  She needs someone to install a new storm door.  Client will purchase door.  Volunteer should bring a few basic tools along.

After you respond with your interest, Family Service Rochester will provide the homeowners address and phone number. Volunteer will work with the homeowner to schedule a date and time around the volunteers availability.

Location: 23000 block of Fertile Ave

A homeowner would appreciate a volunteer's assistance with gardening, planting plants, unsealing windows painted shut, wash outside windows (1 story house).

After responding with your interest, Family Service Rochester will provide the homeowner’s address and phone number. You may work with the homeowner to schedule this request around your availability.

Location: 800 block of Rogers Row, Faribault

Please respond to this open request if you can help remove snow for a homeowner this winter.

Task: Clear steps, driveway, and around to patio and deck door.
Location: Owatonna

The homeowner does not have a shovel or snowblower.

*Snow must removed within 24 hours after it stops snowing.

Volunteers are needed to clear driveways and sidewalks for elderly neighbors. 

Once the match is made, the volunteer will be assigned to clear the sidewalks and paths surrounding the same home after each storm this winter.

If you're not able to help on a regular basis, you can let us know you'd be willing to be a snow shoveling substitute, and we will contact you to check your availability.

By volunteering as a Senior Companion, you can make a positive difference by providing weekly or bi-weekly visits that keep older adults feeling well — both physically and emotionally. 

Senior Companion volunteers offer assistance with daily tasks and transportation to older adults who wish to stay active, healthy, and continue living at home. Through weekly or bi/weekly in-home visits a few hours, our volunteers offer assistance by:

Caregiver Respite ensures caregivers know they are not alone and that help is available. Volunteers provide non-medical companionship, supervision, and a friendly face for older adults and those with disabilities so their primary caregiver can have some time away for work, family, and rest. 

Often people living with disabilities or memory loss and their caregivers have limited social contact outside their families. Volunteers are welcomed as friends, relationships develop, caregivers begin to cope better with daily stress, and thus the whole family is served. Volunteers are paired with a family and serve 4 – 16 hours a month, although there is no minimum or maximum about of time that can be donated.

Respite Care
Respite care volunteers offer quality companionship to someone with memory impairment or a chronic condition, so the primary caregiver can take a few hours off to attend to their needs. This has several benefits as it gives the primary family caregiver time:

Training
Respite Volunteer Training is offered to support respite volunteers. The training and education explore HIPAA and client confidentiality, boundaries, professionalism, and respect, case examples/caregiving-centric issues, and dementia education.   

Matching Process
Neighbors Helping Neighbors takes great care to match a volunteer and family. The Volunteer should feel comfortable handling the Care Receiver’s level of functioning. The Care Receiver should feel comfortable and respected by his/her new Volunteer companion.

Household helper volunteers are needed to assist older adults and those with disabilities with household chores. Typical tasks include vacuuming, dusting, mopping, cleaning kitchens and bathrooms, and other housekeeping items. 

Flexible--volunteer as your schedule allows! 

Transportation is an essential need among older adults and the most requested service we receive. Many seniors in our community are no longer driving but have doctor appointments to get to and errands to run. We are here to assist these individuals, and we do so by making volunteering to drive easy!

As a volunteer driver, you assign yourself to requested trips that fit well with your schedule and transport the consumer in your own vehicle! Most transportation requests are for medical appointments, but we also accept transports to grocery stores, community centers, banks, hair salons, churches, shopping centers, and social events.
